The objective of this study is to find out the difference in perceptional fatigue and health promoting behavior between hospital nurses and public health nurses. The subjects of this study were 141 hospital nurses and 73 public health nurses in Daejeon. Data were collected using a self-reporting questionnaire during the period from the 5th to 16th of March 2003. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS program. Real number, percentage, mean and standard deviation were calculated, and chi2-test and t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression procedures were carried out. The findings of this study as follows: 1. The mean score of health promoting behavior was 2.71. 2. There were statistically significant differences in health promoting behavior according to age, marital status, family status, residency, educational level, income, the length of work experience and the field of work.(p<0.05) 3. There were statistically significant differences in fatigue according to age, marital status, family status, educational level, income, the length of work experience, perceived health status and the field of work.(p<0.05) 4. The fatigue was found to be in significant negative correlations with health promoting (r=-0.358, p<0.000) and self efficacy (r=-0.314, p<0.000). On the contrary, a significant positive correlation was found between fatigue and perceived barriers (r=0.210, p<0.01). 5. There were five predictors affecting health promoting behavior, which were self-efficacy, income, perceived benefit, fatigue and family support. The most influential factor was self-efficacy that made 31% of prediction, followed by income (6%), perceived benefit (5.2%), fatigue (2.2%) and family support (1.7%) in their order. As a whole, these factors made 46.1% of prediction of health promotion behavior.

This study was conducted to explore the relationship between locus of control and health belief. the life style of gastric cancer patients. The subjects of this study were 40 of the early gastric cancer and 90 of the advanced gastric cancer who first visiting patient to general surgery out patient department of Chungnam University Hospital for operation. The data was collected with structured questionnaire from July. 1998 to Feb. 1999 The tool were Moon's Health Belief Scale and Multiple Locus of Control of Wallston. Wallston, DeVellis. The data was analysed by SAS program using frequency, chi2-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, ANOVA. Scheffe-test, t-test. The results were as follows 1. 30.8% of subjects were early gastric cancer anf 69.2% were advanced gastric cancer. The subject knowing about diagnosis was 83.1%. 16.9% did'nt know about diagnosis. 2. The correlationship between Health belief and Locus of control of subjects was not supported. 3. There was statistically no difference of life style between early and advanced gastric cancer patients. 4. There were statistically significant differences in perceived sensitivity according to weight. educational level. and birth order, in perceived barrier according to educational level. and in perceived severity according to occupation among demographic characteristics of study subjects. From above results. health professional has to educate general population to detect gastric cancer early to improve survival rate because early gastric cancer is high in survival rate, and to prevent recurrence and to maintain continuing healthy status. In the future, gastroscopy also has to expand to detect early. For there was no difference in life style between early and advanced gastric cancer. carcinogen related to diet should be emphasized through education. The perceived benefit among health belief model was not supported in this study therefore further study and comparison between gastric cancer and normal population are needed.

This study was undertaken in order to examine the relationship of hardiness and health-promoting behavior and the effects of hardiness on stress-related physical symptoms. The subjects were 104 female nursing students of one college in Kongju. The instruments used for this study were a survey of general characteristics, hardiness(25 items), health-promoting behavior(44 items), and physical symptoms(35 items). Analysis of data was done by use of mean, Pearson correlation coefficient, stepwise regression and a hierarchical multiple regression with an SAS program. The results of this study are as follows. 1) Significant correlations between health -promoting behavior and subscales of hardiness, that is, control(r=-.35, P<.00l), commitment(r=-.29, P<.0l), and challenge(r=-.23, p<.05) were found. 2) Control was the highest factor predicting health-promoting behavior. 3) Main and buffering effects of hardiness on current physical symptoms were not found.

The purpose of this study was examine the determinants of highschool students' health behavior. A convenient sample of 2nd grade highschool students (N=638) responded to self-report questionnaires. The IMCHB was then tested with data using SAS program by frequency, t-test, ANOVA, regression. The results were as follows 1. Health behaviors were found to be type of school specific. 2. From the general highschool's model, student's health affected health perception and mother's health and father's education affected self esteem among a set of background variables. Health perception and self-esteem are related to health behaviors. 16.8% of the varience in regular highschool student's health behavior are explained by health perception and self-esteem. 3. From the vocational highschool's model, 20.2% of health behavior varience was explained by self-esteem. Mothers' education, health perception and self esteem explained internal motivation. Student's health, internal motivation and self-esteem explained health perception. The results indicated that there was a relatively poor fit of the IMCHB to the highschool students' data.

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of health promotive behavior of adults and thereby to develope the health promotive behavior scale adjusting our sociocultural situation. The item for health promotive behavior was aquired from statements which was reported by Kim through deep interview with 164 Korean adults. The scale was measured with 4 points Likert type. Data was collected with questionnaire for population living in farm of Chungnam Province and Dae Jon City, from July to August 1994 by research assistant trained by researchers. Data was analysed using SPSS program with Cronbach alpha and factor analysis. The results are as follows : 1. For the reliability of the scale, Cronbach alpha was .8264 2. The factor analysis to examine the construct validity showed that health promotive behaviors included 9 factors: health management (16.0%), regular life style(7.4%), psychosomatic control(5.6%), moderation of living(4.6%), stress rnanagement(4.1%), abstain from favorite (3.9%), sanitary habit (3.8%), thought (3.2%), diet habit(3.1%). Nine factors explained 51.7% of varient.
