- PURPOSE
The purpose of this study is to evaluate effects of a health education program based on social cognitive theory on university students with risk factors for metabolic syndrome. METHODS A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. Participants were 88 students who had at least 2 risk factors for Metabolic Syndrome (47 students for the experimental and 41 for the control group). The health education program consisted of thirteen sessions. Knowledge regarding smoking and alcohol drinking, self-efficacy and self-esteem were evaluated. t-test, chi2-test, Fisher's exact test, and paired t-test were conducted to analyze the data. SPSS/WIN 19.0 Statistics program was used. RESULTS There was a statistically significant increase in self-efficacy in the experimental group compared to the control group. No significant changes in knowledge and self-esteem were found. CONCLUSION The results suggest that the health education program for university students was partially effective. Further work is required to develop more effective health education programs.

- PURPOSE
This study was performed to investigate the effects of lower urinary tract symptoms on depression and quality of life among women in urban areas. METHODS The participants in this study were 306 women in P city. Data were collected using a questionnaire from May 1 to June 6, 2008. Lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) were measured with BFLUTS-SF and categorized into voiding, filling and incontinence. The data were analyzed through t-test, one-way ANOVA, Fisher exact test, and multiple regression. RESULTS Age, filling and incontinence, and all of the subcategories of LUTS explained 16% of variance in depression. Older women, LUTS with incontinence, filling and incontinence, and all the problems including filling, voiding and incontinence lowered the quality of life. CONCLUSION In order to develop nursing interventions for women with urinary tract symptoms, comprehensive understanding of LUTS is needed.

- PURPOSE
This study was performed to identify factors affecting the functional status in disabled persons in the Jeju Province. METHOD Data were collected from 318 disabled persons in the Jeju province during the period from the 6th of July to the 11th of October in 2006. The functional status was assessed by the disability assessment schedule II(Whodas II) of the World Health Organization and collected data were analyzed using the SAS 8.0 program. RESULT The mean score of WHODAS II was 29.9. According to the results of multiple regression, factors affecting the functional status were perceived health condition(t=3.44, p<.001), brain disorder disability(t=2.55, p<.001), treatment status(t=-1.95, p=.05), drinking(t=2.09, p=.04), stress(t=-2.72, p=.01), depression(t=-2.70, p=.01), heart disease(t=2.62, p=.01) and anemia(t=2.20, p=.03). CONCLUSION The functional status was affected by health behaviors, diseases, and the type of disability. Thus, future efforts to promote the functional status of disabled persons may need to take into account all these factors.

- Persons with disabilities have increased and among others, number of them in the community is at the high proportion. But they have a difficulty in physical, psychological adjusting and they don't be offered appropriate, sufficient rehabilitation services. Therefore, Community-Based Rehabilitation Services in Health Center be needed.
With these backgrounds, this study was conducted to examine factors in relation to job performance of community-based rehabilitation program in Health Centers, and the factors are characteristics of district nurses, internal factors, external-environmental factors. This study provides guidelines for effective management for rehabilitation program.
Subject in this study were 122 Health Centers randomly chosen. Data were collected from September, 16, 1998 to October, 9, 1998, and the data for analyses were ones of 105 respondents.
The instrument of this study was job performance of community-based rehabilitation program is modified WHO guidelines. Credibility of instruments was 0.73-0.95 in main study.
The summary of results was as follows.
First, the mean of job performance of com munity-based rehabilitation program was 2.33 of full score 4.00. Significant differences were not obtained on the job performance among areas.
Second, stepwise multiple regression analysis revealed that the most powerful predictor to job performance was community-based health program. The number of volunteer workers, the score of cooperation with other institution, the number of visiting nurse, the number of facilities for person with disabilities are accountable factor to the job performance of community-based rehabilitation program.
