PURPOSE
The purpose of this study was to provide basic data to develop safety education programs in elementary school.
METHOD
Analysis is made based on textbooks for 1st-6th-grade elementary school students published by Korea Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development.
RESULTS
1) Among the textbooks. only , , , and courses dealt with safety education. 2) The contents of safety education included traffic safety, water safety, indoor and outdoor safety, fire, emergency measures, misuse and abuse of drug, smoking, toy safety, sports safety, leasure safety and disasters. However, the contents were theoretical, fragmentary, local and limited.
CONCLUSION
These results suggest that the consents of safety education must be strengthened, and more practical and more behavior-oriented in consideration of activities.

The purpose of this study was to understand and analyze the subjective structure of attitude The method was based on a Q-Methodological approach. The results of this study, there were four categories of smoking middle school students' attitude about smoking. The first type named Self Belief type that this type didn't sensible of their surrounding persons when they were smoking and they also were responsible for strong opinion at their behavior. The second type named Other's Awareness type that they were seen the behaviors they always have to see other person when they were smoked, but if they didn't smoke or have tobaccos they feel heavy and are restless. The third type named Solving of Anxiety type. They first used to smoke when they wanted to solve their anxiety, stress, awkwardness and angry. The fourth type named A Sense of Belonging Group type. This type followed if their friends were smoking they also did it with them. As to grasping of their motivation to smoking of middle school of students with smoking, they felt some intimacy and same quality each other. In consideration of various types of attitude about smoking, it was very necessary important to grasp the meaning because we were known about attitude, belief etc. And then Through getting hold of the meaning, we could understand with their thought and value of Students in middle school. Besides, as a substitute for the students were depending on smoking purposelessly will fix right self-confidence.

The purpose of this study was twofold: one, to provide basic data to prevent smoking among university students and two, to develop an effective no smoking program for university students. Two hundred and ten 210 university students who smoked were enrolled in the study. Data were collected from September, 1999 to January, 2000 using a questionnaire. The data collected were scored by using mean and standard deviation according to the motivations for smoking, the psychological characteristics and the motivation for not smoking. Each item was analyzed as an independent variable by the t-test and the ANOVA test. The results were as follows: 1. The average score of subjects' smoking motivation and psychologic characteristics was 2.59. 2. The average score of subjects' no smoking was 3.18. 3. With the respect to the general characteristics of subjects' smoking motivation and psychologic characteristics, there were significant difference in allowance for the month (F=6.197, P=.002), smoking reason (F=4.196, P=.003), smoking type(F=2.34, P=.035), father's smoking(F=3.119, P=.027), and smoking of close friend (F=4.430, P=.013). In subjects' no smoking motivation, there were significant difference in age (F=3.469, P=.033) and starting time of smoking(F=2.834, P=.039) 4. There was a significant correlation (r=.190, p=.007) between subjects' smoking motivation, psychologic characteristics and no smoking motivation.
