This study examined the development and performance of the school health promotion policy guideline that is applicable to Korean school health. METHODS 1. The WHO's guideline was translated into Korean and modified by school health experts 2. A questionnaire was conducted to assess the performance of school health policy on 207 nurses in elementary schools in Seoul and Cheonbuk. RESULT The Korean version of the school health promotion policy guidelines were developed including 9 components and 36 checkpoints. Compared to that of WHO, the component 'school nursing teacher' was added and three components were eliminated: 'equitable access to school resources', 'control of helminth', and 'sun protection policy'. The performance degree of first-aid, closure of school in a calamity, and control of HIV/AIDS was very low. The performance degree of a healthy diet, and regular physical examination was quite high. This study was the first that developed the school health promotion policy guideline and examined the performance. Further research is needed to validate the guidelines developed by this study.

- This study was designed to identify the relationship between health perception arid health promoting behavior in the elderly.
The subjects for this study were 92 persons over 65, who could be easily met in households, pavilions for the aged, and parks.
The data were collected during the period from March 24th to April 12th, 1997 by interviews with a structured questionnaire.
The instruments used for this study are as follows: The Health Perception Questionnaire developed by Ware (1979) and translated by Yu Ji-Su(1985). The Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile(HPLP) developed by Walker, Sechrist & Pender (1987) and partially amended by the author of this study. The Health Promotion Lifestyle Profile(HPLP) was parameterized by nutrition, exercise, stress management, self actualization, health responsibility, and interpersonal support.
The data was analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation using an SPSS program. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Hypothesis 1 : 'The higher the level of health perception in the elderly, the higher the practice of health promoting behavior in the elderly' was supported(r=0.449, p<0.001).
2. The health perception mean score on a four point scale was 2.564.
3. For health promoting behavior, the mean score on a four point scale was 2.560. The factor of the highest mean score was interpersonal support(2.850) and factor of the lowest mean score was exercise(1.964).
4. Among the general characteristic variables, sex(t=4.12, p<0.001), religion(t=2.47, p<0.05), education(F=3.27, p<0.05), marital status (t=2.22, p<0.05), living situation(F=3.50, p<0.05), and hobby(t=-2.57, p<0.05) showed strong connections to health perception.
5. Among the general characteristic variables, religion(t=1.83, p<0.05), and marital status(t=2.12, p<0.05) showed strong connections to health promoting behavior.
In conclusion, this study revealed that health perception is an important factor related to health promoting behavior in the elderly. The general characteristic variables showed strong connections to health perception and health promoting behavior. Therefore, nurses should consider health perception and general characteristic variables when they plan nursing intervention for the elderly. Also, educational programs encouraging constructive health perception should be developed.

The subjects were consisted of 164 nurses who were working at public health centers in Chonbuk.
The data were collected by self-reporting questionnaire from Jan. 15 to Jan. 27, 1996.
The instrument used in this study was Likert-type scale which Job Involvement Scale developed by Kanungo. The questionnaires of organizational and job characteristic were made through reviewing literatures.
The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient with SPSS-PC+ program.
Major findings were as follows : 1. Mean scores for job involvement were 3.0879 on a 5 point scale.
2. In the personal variables, professional experience(t=-2.18, p=.031), position(t=2.34, p=.021), and age(F=-1.94, p=.038) were statistically significant in job involvement.
3. The variables to job characteristic were statistically significant in job involvement: job challenge (r=.4785, p=.000), role ambiguity (r=-.3141, p=.000), task significance (r=.2714, p=.000), and role conflict(r=-.2166, p=.003).
4. The variables to organizational characteristic were statistically significant in job involvement : formalization(r=.3184, p=.000) and human centered organizational characteristic (r=.2450, p=.001).
