PURPOSE This study was to find out knowledge, fear, and efficacy of fall in the community dwelling elderly and to investigate how the factors were connected to one another. METHODS Data were collected from June to August, 2009 from 101 aged people who aged 65 or older and agreed to participate in this study sampled among elders at 8 halls of the aged in local communities. The subjects were interviewed by a co-researcher and 3 trained assistants in a way of responding to the questionnaire after being read. The data were analyzed through t-test, ANOVA, Turkey's test and Pearson correlation coefficients. RESULTS Knowledge of fall was affected significantly by whether the living cost was provided or not, fear of fall was affected by sex, level of education, hearing impairment and regular exercise, and efficacy of fall was affected by age, sex, marital status, level of education, hearing impairment, vertigo and regular exercise. The results also showed a negative correlation between fear of fall and efficacy of fall. CONCLUSION According to this study, regular exercise can build up knowledge and efficacy of fall and diminish fear of fall. Thus it is highly recommended to include regular exercise in an effective fall-prevention program.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to construct a questionnaire to assess male workers' sobriety behavior based on Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). METHODS A primary questionnaire with 56 questions was constructed based on literature review and structured interview with male workers. The Content Validity Index (CVI) was evaluated by a group of experts, construct validity was tested by principle component analysis, and reliability was evaluated by Cronbach's alpha and the test-retest reliability test. RESULTS Fifty two questions showed higher than .8 of CVI. Four factors explained 78.71% of the total variance among items for sobriety intention and direct measure, and six factors explained 67.99% of the total variance among indirect measure items and those factors coincided with the variables of TPB in factor analysis. Cronbach's alpha of this questionnaire was .873 and the result of test-retest reliabilty test was relatively reliable. A total of 41 items with 7-point scale were constructed in the final version. CONCLUSION This questionnaire was valid and reliable to measure sobriety behavior based on TPB in male workers. It can be useful to evaluate the result of a sobriety program for male workers.

PURPOSE This study was to identify health needs of the elderly at nursing homes by long-term care grade. METHODS The health needs of 116 elders at two nursing homes in Seoul were measured with resident assessment protocols (RAPs), activities of daily living (ADL), and cognitive performance scale (CPS), and pain and depression were measured by resident assessment instrument (RAI). RESULTS With regard to RAPs, 11 out of 18 items had different distribution in the 3 groups significantly. The 1st-grade elders had a higher percentage of 9 items than the 2nd- and 3rd-grade ones but the 3rd-grade ones had the highest health needs related with activity. The 2nd-grade elders had similar health needs to the 1st-grade ones. In terms of functional level, the 1st-grade elders had the highest percentage of CPS and ADL but the 3rd-grade ones had the highest score of pain and depression out of the 3 groups. The standardized assessment instrument to identify specific health needs by the 3 groups should be developed. Therefore, care plans to meet health needs of the 3 groups will be made. CONCLUSION It is suggested that nursing care is required to the elderly of the 1st- and 2nd-grade and safe activity and environment to the 3rd-graded ones.
